- The CCP webpage contains information, forms, and resources students will need throughout the program.
- Read and save your acceptance letter.
- Your JCC acceptance email contains your JCC username, JCC Student ID #, and JCC email address. Store this information in a secure location that you can easily reference, especially your JCC Student ID number.
- Access PortalGuard and set your password.
- Using the How-To Guide, set your password in PortalGuard. PortalGuard houses the single password for all of your JCC logins:
- Self-Service: Central hub for most student administrative functions. Through it, you will be able to access payment information, view unofficial transcripts, and view your class schedule.
- Office 365: Home to your JCC Student Outlook email account. Access to additional Microsoft Office Suite services is provided here as well (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Blackboard: Provides access to all your enrolled course content (i.e. syllabi, assignments). You will not see your classes until the first day of class for any given semester. If you do not see your classes in Blackboard on the first day, review your schedule and email jolt@mail.johnstoncc.edu with any issues. If you add a new course, it will take at least 24 hours for it to load into Blackboard.
Password resets are required every 90 days. If you have any issues with any of the above, contact JOLT!
- Access and check your JCC email account
- You will be responsibly for checking your JCC email account. If you have issues with email, contact JOLT!
- Schedule and attend your Academic Advising and Registration appointment.
- Only accepted CCP students can meet with an academic advisor to determine which classes are required for their approved pathway and to pre-register for their first semester in the program. When planning, be sure to consider your high school schedule (including work, sports, and graduation requirements) to ensure a manageable balance between high school and college coursework. Instructions for scheduling your advising appointment can be found under advising and registration.
- Get your Student ID card
- Student ID card processing requires a current photo ID card and copy of your JCC class schedule. Find the current ID information here.
- Get you Parking Permit
- Only student intending to be on JCC's campus for class, tutoring, etc., will need a parking pass. parking decals are requested using Parking Permit e-form and a JCC representative will contact you regarding pick up.
- Acquire your required course materials (i.e. textbooks)
- Johnston County Public School (JCPS) Students ONLY:
- Specific information will be provided by your CCP Representative in your high school CCP Google Classroom.
- Non-JCPS Students ONLY (Charter, Home, Private, Outside of Johnston Co.):
- Textbooks, e-texts, access codes, and supplies are your responsibility. Visit the bookstore online or on campus (Wilson Building). A student's high school or another local organization may cover these costs; however, students must check with those entities to determine available resources and policies.
- Pay account balances on time
- View payment deadlines on the CCP Calendar and review/pay account balances in Self-Service. Contact the Business Office with questions. Course registration will not occur if there is an outstanding balance.
- The CCP program covers tuition only. Required course materials and student fees (i.e. activity, technology, universal learning, CAPS) are the student's responsibility. However, there may be local provisions for such costs. A student's high school, school district, or another local organization may cover these costs. Students should check with their principal, administrator, or counselor for any information and to verify how any of those costs are paid if applicable. Johnston County Public School students check with your CCP Representative.
- Submit a FERPA Form
- You are encouraged to complete a FERMA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Form. FERPA affords certain rights to students concerning the privacy of, and access to, their education records. Students may complete the FERPA e-Form or print and submit the PDF FERPA Form to the Student Success Center. FERPA gives parents/guardians certain rights regarding their student's education records.
- Submit official College transcripts and/or AP Test scores to JCC Admissions
- College credits earned elsewhere can impact advice you receive during an advising appointment. You are responsible for submitted official college transcripts from other colleges and/or Advanced Placement (AP) test scores from College Board to the JCC Admissions Office. Official documentation must come directly from the institution to JCC Admissions.
- Sign up for Jaguar Alerts
- Jaguar Alerts broadcasts immediate notifications of JCC campus emergencies and closings.
- Check calendars for important dates
- You are responsible for important dates/deadlines. Bookmark the CCP Calendar and JCC Academic Calendar. We suggest putting important dates into your phone/device calendar/alarms to alert you when needed.
